Volunteering in Barcelona: Final days

Volunteering in Barcelona: Final days

The volunteer trip to Barcelona was the best first experience one could ask for. After reading about the first and second weeks, keep reading to find out more about the final days in Barcelona.

Monday, 26th of September 2016– Day Twelve

The final week has begun. Two women that are scout-girl leaders come to the house to give a workshop on how to treat sexuality with children. We learn about the biology behind sexuality and the workshop is eye-opening. Having acquired a lot of new knowledge, we speak about it over a good dinner and decide to all go out to the local bar we went to the first night.

Tuesday, 27th of September 2016– Day Thirteen

After yesterday’s big night, we all take the morning slowly. I finish some university work and in the afternoon, we go to the youth centre in La Fontana to have a workshop on international human rights.

Wednesday, 28th of September 2016– Day Fourteen

Today is a bit emotional. We visit a women’s shelter and discuss the improvement of women’s rights in Spain which are, unfortunately, not as advanced as we’d wish.

Thursday, 29th of September 2016– Day Fifteen

Today is our last volunteer work day. We go to a radio station where an interview will be undertaken regarding the type of work we have been doing over the past two weeks. It is quite a different experience for me; I’ve never done this before and it’s really quite exciting to do!

Friday, 30th of September 2016– Day Sixteen

Unfortunately, this is the last day of the volunteer camp. After two great weeks of work, we each go our own ways. I get to stay at a hotel close to the airport tonight, where I’ll have my own room for the first time in two weeks. Needless to say, I’m looking forward to it! However, I need to leave at 3 AM from the hotel to arrive at the airport on time for the flight.
