Staying Motivated in COVID-19 Times
Let’s be honest, the past few weeks have been hectic, to say the least. Over the past two months, the world has managed to be completely stopped completely. The economy is seriously struggling, deaths are witnessed internationally, and we are observing something we may have only seen in movies before. On top of this, something else is emerging: people are working from home for the first time and experiencing how much of a struggle it can be at times. Don’t get me wrong, I am no expert in the working-from-home department. Over the course of the previous months, I struggled to motivate myself to work from my shoebox-studio-room in London. It is quite tough to have to work where you also happen to cook, sleep, study and, well, live! However, it also forces you to work on motivating yourself and on practising discipline when to amount of motivation is enough to get you to stop procrastinating and to start working. …

Finding Friends While Abroad
If you have been solo travelling for a while, you know the feeling of loneliness quite well. It’s unfortunate but it’s true: finding friends when abroad is difficult! Considering that you are already out of your comfort zone, thinking about going all out and socializing with complete strangers can be scary. How should you do it? Should you simply approach strangers on the streets, buy them coffee and ask them to be your friend? Don’t worry, there are simpler ways. Meetup and Internations One thing is for certain: unless you are in a secluded village far away from any big city, there are definitely other solo travellers out there feeling the way you do. Use apps and websites like Meetup and Internations, but be careful about going to meetings late at night, and be careful about who you are meeting. This blog is mostly about my personal experiences while volunteering, yet, I have realised that many of my friends want to embark on similar experiences but do not know where to start. So, I’ve decided to start a mini-series called “A Guide to Volunteering” in which I will be sharing my tips on the organisation of a trip, how to plan for it, what to bring, what to expect, and so on.
