    Morocco: Second week

Read my experiences during the second week below. Monday, 23rd October 2017– Day Ten Following the night ride we just had, I stay at home and sleep. At around 10, I leave for the hotel next door to get some work done– I have many assignments due very soon and need to get these done right away. When the clock hits 13 O’ Clock, I am on my way to the school where I teach the women a mixture of colours, greetings and introductory sentences. I also introduce basic verbs they need to describe their products– this is, this costs, and so on. After a long day of studying writing assignments, and volunteering, I go back home where we have tea and dinner all together. Tuesday, 24th October 2017– Day Eleven As it is Tuesday, I am not supposed to teach today. Nevertheless, I go to the session to spend time with the women and am glad I did. The…

    Morocco: First week

This is a day-to-day diary I wrote while being in Morocco in October 2017. After spending a few days in London visiting, I made my way to the airport to begin a new experience… Saturday, 14th October 2017– Day One Today I am flying from London, where I have spent the past three days, to Rabat Salé where I will be volunteering for two weeks. I leave my hostel and travel to Stansted Airport, then embark on a 4-hour flight to finally arrive at 8:15 PM. The IVHQ team picks me up from the airport and drives me to the accomodation– Khadijah’s house. I meet the whole family; Khadijah and her husband, and their three children. Sunday, 15th October 2017– Day Two I take the day to get orientated– I walk around the Medina– the main marketplace and look for long elephant pants to keep cool in the blazing hot sun– wearing shorts in Morocco would not be respectful of…

Thursday, 12th October 2017 Today I flew flying to London, where I’ll say a few days before I then fly to Rabat for two weeks. I arrived at Stansted Airport, make my way to King’s Cross slowly, and arrive (too early) at my hostel, “SOHostel”. I arrive at 9 AM, having five hours to kill before I can finally check in. Considering I woke up at 3 am to arrive at the airport on time, I’m slightly beat once the clock hits 2 PM. Later on, I am meeting with an old friend of mine I haven’t seen in a few years. We meet in Covent Garden. I think I’m slowly falling in love with London. Friday, 13th October 2017 Today I decided to walk around the city and find out more about it. Beforehand, however, I have an online midterm to complete. It takes me a good three hours (!) to finish, and finally, I’m on my way to…
